He has given over 120 invited lectures at the international and national level, has published 45 articles in peer reviewed journals, has produced 30 manuscripts for non peer reviewed journals and has co-authored 4 book chapters. He was member of the Committee of the Obstetric Anaesthetists Association from 2003 – 2009 and is currently president of the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia (ESRA). His primary clinical interest focuses on obstetric anesthesia and anesthesia for children and adults with congenital heart disease undergoing non cardiac surgery. Most of his current research focuses on obstetric anesthesia.

She has recently been appointed Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Washington in Seattle and is the Director of Obstetric Anaesthesia and in charge of the Clinical Genetics research program, a post which she took up in June 2008. Ruth is well known for her genetic research in obstetrics and has divided her time conducting research at the University of Columbia, New York as well as in Geneva.

 

Dr Terry TAN, MBBCh, FCARCSI

Consultant Anaesthetist, Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine, Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital, Ireland

 

After graduating from the University of Dublin, Trinity College, Ireland in 1996, he subsequently became a Fellow of the College of Anaesthetists, RCSI in 2004. Terry has since been awarded the Registrar’s Prize in Dublin and the Teaching award in Anaesthesia. He has also shown a keen interest in obstetric anaesthesia presenting at the 9th World Congress of Perinatal Medicine in Berlin 2009, “Delivery of obstetric anesthesia in the developed world: state of the art, or not” as well as other numerous presentations covering the postoperative effects of obstetric anaesthesia and analgesia.
